| It's been a while since we've seen a female step into the Hip Hop world and completely take over. This young lady has her eye on the prize and a team full of barbies to help push her to the top. Roll with Inkstarzz as we talk to Nicki Minaj... Inkstarzz.com: So what’s up? How's everything going with you? Nicki Minaj: Everything is going good. I'm in New York doing some press stuff, working, doing some photo shoots, recording stuff like that. Inkstarzz.com: What or who motivated you to start rapping? Nicki Minaj: I have tons of motivation- Foxy, Kim, Jay [-Z], [Lil] Wayne, Jadakiss, Biggie, Lauryn Hill. I got all types of motivation, but I think that now what motivate me are my goals and my dreams. Inkstarzz.com: I know you've done some stage acting in the past, have you ever thought about getting back into it? Nicki Minaj: Oh of course! I love acting, I love the stage. I would probably do film because I don't know if I wanna go back on stage right now, but acting has been my first love. You know, I went to school for that so you will definitely be seeing some of that soon. Inkstarzz.com: Any reality TV in the future? Nicki Minaj: Maybe, you never know. I'm still considering it, though. I don't know if reality TV is a good idea. Sometimes when you do those, it could interfere in your life but we’ll see… Inkstarzz.com: Do you feel that there is an intimidation factor coming into a male dominated industry? Nicki Minaj: No, it's exciting I’m a girl and everybody accepts it. It's not a negative thing at all. Inkstarzz.com: I know you have a lot of people trying to holla at you. What was one of the lamest pick-up lines you've heard since you've started rapping? Nicki Minaj: Someone was bragging on how they was so good that they ended up in the infamous Superhead book and I was cracking up. Me and my friends were looking at him like he was a lunatic. He's a very well known person, so I won't blow him up, but it was the worst pick up line ever. Inkstarzz.com: You have a serious fan base. How does it feel to know that you have such a strong following behind you? Nicki Minaj: It feels exciting. I'm actually really taken aback right now. I can't believe it myself. It motivates me now to do more, to give them what they want. They want good music, they want me to be Nicki Minaj and I can do that 24-7 and that's what I'm gonna do. I think when you have that many people following you, it makes you feel like... well for me it makes me feel like there's finally someone that understands me. I just feel like I went through my whole life with people not really getting me, so now I kinda feel like “Wow, people actually get it?". It's a great feeling. Inkstarzz.com: Right, because I saw someone on Twitter a few days ago talking about you like, "I'll stab somebody over Nicki Minaj" Nicki Minaj: Oh, yeah they go hard. They are one of a kind. Shout out to all of them that hold me down. I love them. Inkstarzz.com: Speaking of Twitter, I was just on there a little while ago, and I saw somebody post something saying "Nicki Minaj vs. Rece Steele". Not really asking about the beef, but do you think the websites and media make beef out to be worse than it is? Nicki Minaj: I definitely think so but, as an artist, they can only feed into what you give them. That's why I don't give them anything to feed off of. I just do Nicki Minaj and I let everybody else promote Nicki Minaj. I look at it positively when people are talking about me. I just have lots of promotion. Inkstarzz.com: When you go on tour, which city gets you the most amped? Nicki Minaj: There's been so many recently. Connecticut- crazy, Baltimore -crazy, Buffalo -crazy, VA - crazy. I've been getting crazy responses in a lot of places so, shout out to everybody in those places. I can't wait to go back; I can't wait to be in the arena in those places. I think it's gon be like a crazy Harajuku Barbie movement. Inkstarzz.com: Who comes up with the Barbie and all the Minaj marketing plans? Is that all you? Nicki Minaj: Me, boo! I’m Nicki Minaj, the ninja the boss, the mistress, the Harajuku Barbie. I'm the creative genius behind my brand. So, step yo cookies up Sonn, all the way up, ninja. Inkstarzz.com: (Laughs) If you could use one word to describe you flow, what would it be? Nicki Minaj: I would say Barbie Inkstarzz.com: Barbie? Nicki Minaj: Barbie, yeah. Inkstarzz.com: That's what's up. What else can we expect from you in the near future? Nicki Minaj: You can expect me to rule the world. That's what you can expect from Nicki Minaj. The biggest and the best stuff is gonna come- album, movie, some endorsements, magazines, photo shoots, everything- even a Barbie doll. Inkstarzz.com: Ok cool. Thanks for the interview. |
