We took a trip to New Orleans and met up with one of the
faces that would be on the welcome sign as you enter the city.
We sat down with New Orleans rap vet Bigg Ramp to see what
was on his mind.

Inkstarzz: I want to start off by saying thank you for doing this
and also to let you know that I’m a fan of your work.

Inkstarzz: So, what’s up with you? Let me know what’s on your plate right now, what all  do
you have going on right now?

Ramp: Well, homie, right now I got some real big irons in the fire believe that!
[I've got] albums, T.V. shows , movies, clothing and of course getting tatted.

Inkstarzz: You keep it moving! So how do you balance out everything? Do you have any play
time?

Ramp: F@#k what u heard there is no balance [because] this industry never sleeps. While
your playing footsies and s@%t somebody is stealing your swag while you lag, believe that.

Inkstarzz: Yea that’s real talk right there! How long have you been on the mic?

Ramp: Since I popped out my mama!(laughs) I was one of the child rappers of the city. [I
have] been on the mic since 1990 elementary, but professionally since 95
I’m a young vet,  believe that.

Inkstarzz: What or who inspired you to pick up the pen?

Ramp: Pimp Daddy, UNLV- I grew up under them- Digital Underground, UGK and Magnolia
Slim, [all of] whom I’ve had a chance to tour or work with. R.I.P to Yella and Pimp C and of
course Souljah.

Inkstarzz: Man that’s a good list to look up to. Have you ever signed a contract? If so, how did
it feel to sign your first contract?

Ramp: Yep my first contract was with the 504 boys, ya dig? I was the hottest free agent in the
city. They came in the hood, broke me off, gave me a rover and a Soul Train plane ticket and
the rest is history. Before that, I worked with Underground Ent, Redrumm, Take Fo,
Untouchable, Cash Money, and every d-boy in the city who could pay my feature price.

Inkstarzz: That’s what’s up! So what’s up with the Flossed Out
Gangstas
movement?

Ramp: Well the F.O.G thing came about when I was on tour with Jubilee
and a lot of other rappers who were at home would call my cell for advice and stuff. I was
developing a couple of artists as well as myself and
Take Fo wasn’t taking my sub label
seriously so we went independent and I started ghostwriting for the majors and whomever!
But the movement consists now of way more than music because the original F.O.G’z have all
grown into movements on their own and I’m proud of them.  Shouts out to Fly Society/Street
Ballaz, G.M.C and the Beam Team/Tru Playaz and Tassin Ent and of course Phat Phat. We
[are] all in!

Inkstarzz: That’s what’s up, Do you remember the first bar you wrote?

Ramp: Yep my first bars were for somebody else and they made a N.O classic off of it! But it’s
all good.

Inkstarzz: So you’re from New Orleans right? What part of the city are you from?

Ramp: You better believe it mister! Charity, baby! Uptown the 13th from M.V to
V.L  but I gotta show love to my B Ground homies in little Harlem, too!

Inkstarzz: (Laughs) man that Charity!  I know it was a lot of rap beef in New Orleans before
Katrina, do you still see a lot of that now, or do you see more artists coming together?

Ramp: No we [are] deadin that, we [are] burying those hatchets so that the city can progress
as a whole, ya dig?  Check out my pics on my myspace to see what I’m talking bout. The city
is my page.

Inkstarzz: Man that’s a good look. Ok I know you are like one of the faces of New Orleans, so
let me ask you, do you feel the city is coming back to what it was?

Ramp: Thanks homie, I try. I think the city can’t come back to what it was because so much
was lost but we, as the future, can make it better for our future just like they did after Betsy. I’
m a history buff.

Inkstarzz: (Laughs) yea I’m on that history kick too, Have you met anyone yet that had you
“star- struck”?

Ramp: Yep my daughters Kaydra and Destiny.

Inkstarzz: Cool. What was your favorite callabo and who would you love to work with?

Ramp: My favorite collabos had to be with Mystikal on a song called "Fire on the Bayou" and
"N.O. stand up" which is on J Dawgs new CD. I  worked with and wrote for a lot of artists
worldwide,  so anybody who  is straight and serious about work. Today I got two sessions to
work. One is with Currensy at the biggest studio down here and after that I'm going record in
some lil dude closet I hooked up wit a the strip club. I love this game!

Inkstarzz: (Laughs) I feel that, If you could describe your flow with one word, what would it be?

Ramp: Matrix

Inkstarzz: If you had to spend a weekend locked in a cabin with either Hillary Clinton or
Condoleezza Rice, who would it be? What would yall be listening to, bounce or R&B?

Ramp: Hill cause she [hasn't] been getting it correctly (laughs)! [i can] put a little soul in the
hole (laughs)!  I'm just playing Bill! I [would] give her 6 red white and blues for the great
country of ours and introduce her to the song "Hot Steamy Relations"

Inkstarzz: (Laughs) Well ship me two of those drinks while I hold Condoleezza down! Any
upcoming projects or shows you wanna let people know about? How can you be contacted?
What is your myspace or website link?

Ramp: Yeah be on the look out for the "King of the City" which is an album, mixtape and short
film .I can be contacted at www.myspace.com/bigramp504 ,also check out phatphat.net

Inkstarzz: That’s what’s up homie. Any last words or  shout outs??

Ramp: God bless all who reads this because positivity is the key. I hope this article inspires
somebody to get out and chase their dream. If its journalism or music or whatever, just do it .
Believe that.

Inkstarzz: Man good looking out and Thanks for your time, we really appreciate it. Good luck
with everything.
